To put it simply, the lower the VLT number is, the more light it blocks and the darker it appears. Hypothetically, a window tint with 0% VLT would block 100% of light. You wouldn’t be able to see through it. Although a lower VLT helps protect your comfort and privacy, you need proper visibility to be safe on the road.
Windshields, Front Windows, and Rear Windows

The regulations for sedans and passenger vehicles are a little less restrictive. Like SUVs, sedans can have a tint strip applied to the windshield up to the AS-1 line and must keep tint on the front side windows at a VLT of 25% or higher. The rear side and back windows, however, can be as dark as you like. There is no maximum VLT tint for the rear side and back windows in a sedan.
